Released in the summer of 2015, Title Update 1.27 (often associated with the Ill-Gotten Gains Part 1 update) was one of the final content drops for the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Due to the hardware limitations of the older consoles, subsequent massive updates—like the Doomsday Heist or Cayo Perico—never made it to the PS3.

Popular mod tools like Lexicon , Serendipity , and various SPRX injection menus require the game's eboot.bin and update files to be locked exactly at the 1.27/1.28 architecture.
