The authority behind the book comes from . He is an internationally known semiconductor professional with deep roots in process engineering, training, consulting, and writing. Van Zant began his career at an IBM research facility in New York State. He then moved to Texas Instruments in Dallas before making his way to the heart of the industry: Silicon Valley. In Silicon Valley, he held wafer fabrication process engineering and management positions at National Semiconductor and Monolithic Memories. He also taught at Foothill College in Los Altos, California, where he led introductory semiconductor classes and advanced programs for process engineers. With his wife Mary DeWitt, he founded Semiconductor Services, a wafer fabrication-oriented training and consulting company, and then wrote and published the first edition of "Microchip Fabrication." After selling the company, he founded Peter Van Zant Associates, providing consulting services to industry and the legal profession. His clients have included Intel, National Semiconductor, Applied Materials, Air Products and Chemicals, and SCP Global Inc., as well as numerous educational institutions. Beyond his technical achievements, Van Zant also served two terms as an elected District Supervisor in Nevada County, California, demonstrating his commitment to public service.
