The X8-2 architecture is built on a scale-out model consisting of powerful database (compute) servers and intelligent storage servers connected by a high-speed 40 Gb/s InfiniBand network fabric. Database Servers : Each compute node features two 24-core Intel Xeon Platinum 8260 processors (2.4 GHz). The Exadata X8-2 implements unique algorithms and protocols that embed database intelligence directly into the storage, compute, and InfiniBand networking layers. This architecture offloads data-intensive SQL operations to storage servers, dramatically reducing the amount of data that must move over the network and enabling high-speed analytic processing.

A full rack of Exadata X8-2 is designed for massive scale and speed: Up to 560 GB/sec uncompressed I/O bandwidth. I/O Operations: Up to 6.5 million 8K read IOPS from SQL.
